July 5 - Moving Across California
Betsy has been working for two years now on completing a Delorme Maps GeoChallenge that asks geocachers to get a cache from the locations on every page of the Delorme Atlas for a state. She now has most of California as we've been working our way back and forth across the state on our way to Ashland, Oregon. The best part is that I'm getting to revisit some of the places along the PCT. Today it was Belden Town on the Feather River. Yep, the same river that fed the now damaged Oroville Dam in Northern California. We didn't see any thru hikers, but we got to see a great portion of the incredibly beautiful North Fork of the Feather River.
Along the way north we stopped for a cache at the intersection of highway 36 and the PCT. We met four hikers just getting back on the trail after re supplying in Chester. I hope to see Butcher, NoShow, Revenge, and their companion on the trail up north.
We ended the day at the Best Western in Chester, near Lassen Volcanic National Park.
