John departed for the local store as I hit the trail. Met campo resident Brett near Boulder Oaks CG as he returned from pinedale on a day hike from a friends place. Ate lunch and gathered water at Boulder Oaks before crossing under I-8 on my way towards Mt Laguna Recreation Area where Betsy is geocaching before heading back to Arizona. I'll arrive there tomorrow.
The trail now is rocky, but better than I'm used to. Lots of weathered granite, manzanita, and chaparral.
A trail crew has been at work from mile 26 to 30 with a machine that tears the brush to pieces. I can see the tracks its left.
At mile 33 I meet up with affable Buffalo who is waiting at the top of the hill for his wife BeachBum who has gone for water. Buffalo fills me in on a litany of ailments starting with a severely stubbed toe. BeachBum shows up with several liters of water. They're off another mile up the trail to a small campsite. I'm off down the hill where I decide that 14 dollars is too much for a camp site. I fill up with water and wander back up and over the hill to camp in the brush.
Tomorrow I'll push on to Laguna Resort area.
