As you may or may not know my home is surrounded by several tall mountains ranges known as Sky Islands due the the major changes in biomes as one rises from the 2000 foot elevation of the desert floor to the Canadian forest of the mountain tops. Tonight I'm sleeping under a couple of inches of snow as an unexpected storm passes through.
This Friday to Sunday hike starting auspiciously with an early morning rain and snowstorm at the Miller Creek Trailhead. After an hour delay I was able to make it up the mountain with sunny skies and cool temperatures. The Tucson Meetup Hiking group met and camped at relatively dry Happy Valley Saddle. The evening was spent joking around a pleasant campfire.
