PCT Revisited - Day 2
Typical Deb and Rick, up at 4:30 getting ready for the day's hike. Actually, I can't hold the early hour against them as I was up too, and they came all the way from Florida yesterday. So jet lag had something to do with it. And it was kind of fun reliving some of my first days with the fullers on the trail. We were rarely on the trail later than 6:30. Early starts made for an easier day since we didn't have to hurry to our next destination.
Today our optimistic goal was to reach Lake Morena, but as usual reality got in the way. We made it to Hauser Canyon just before sunset. Mind you, this is Debs hike, and last time she was here Deb and Rick took two days to get this far! At this rate she'll be done with the entire thru hike in three months instead of six!
Tomorrow morning we'll pass by Lake Morena and head for Boulder Oak Campground. There I'll meet Betsy and Jerry as they return from Catalina Island and we'll head back to Tucson. Deb, Rick, and Don will continue north, and in no time at all Deb will be stepping into British Colombia to finish her epic journey.
Hitting the trail early.
Stopping late!
